Eligibility Criteria
Residents and Workers in Specific Counties
If you live, work, worship, or attend school in any of the following North Carolina counties, you are eligible to open an account with us:
Buncombe | Cherokee | Clay |
Graham | Haywood | Henderson |
Jackson | Macon | Madison |
McDowell | Swain | Transylvania |
Federal Employees
All federal employees located in the 20 western counties of North Carolina, including Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cherokee, Caldwell, Clay, Cleveland, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, McDowell, Macon, Madison, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey. This also includes field personnel paid from a headquarters office in these counties.
Residents and Workers on the Cherokee Indian Reservation
Anyone living or working on the Cherokee Indian Reservation is eligible to join.
Family Members of Current or Former Members
Family members of any current or former Mountain Credit Union account holder are also eligible to open an account.
When opening a new account, you will need to provide:
- Your name, address, date of birth, and other identifying information.
- A valid driver's license with your current and correct address.
- If your driver's license is from out of state, you will need additional proof of residency, such as a utility bill or a lease agreement.
- Your Social Security card.
